The Difficulty in Anterior Ceramic Crowns for Aged Teeth

Writer's picture: NikitaJoshiNikitaJoshi

Aged teeth may present with different thicknesses and surface texture of enamel which may be difficult to replicate and produce in a crown.

The wear may be related to external forces or occlusal interferences, and may have a reduced preparation potential if the enamel is thin, perhaps due to multifactorial wear over time. This may increase the flexibility of the tooth, increasing likelihood of fracture at the tooth-ceramic interface.
