Gold Crowns- Pros and Cons

Here's a short one, from my dental material notes!

Advantages:

• Durable and withstand wear

• Does not wear the opposing teeth

• Strong in thin sections

• Biocompatible- although you may find some patients with a gold allergy

• Corrosion resistant

• Easy to adjust and polish.

Disadvantages:

• Aesthetics- (I think they look rather nice but) would not want for anterior teeth

• Cannot be added to like composite

• Costly
