This week I learnt about an interesting syndrome in Dr. Bradley's Syndrome Sundays.
Tetralogy of Fallot is a rare cardiac syndrome, commonly seen in children with DiGeorge syndrome or Down syndrome. The patient has a few congenital heart defects, linked together, such as:
Ventricular Septal Defect
Pulmonary Valve Stenosis
Misplaces Aorta
Thickened Right Ventricular Wall
Dental Management
The patient is at risk of infective endocarditis, and before cardiac surgery, the cardiologist will want to know if the patient is dentally fit. They will often be on long-term review, and dental practitioners must liaise with cardiologists if they are doing something invasive.
