Be aware of the signs and symptoms of Sepsis!

Sepsis could cause general unwellness, concerning people around the affected person, abnormal heart rate, O2 levels or Blood Pressure and ongoing deterioration.


Red Flag Sepsis:

If a patient has just one of the following conditions, 'Red Flag Sepsis' needs to be stated to 999. There should be a Blue light transfer, with Oxygen administered and a brief clear handover including observations and allergies to antibiotics.

  • Glasgow Coma Scale Deterioration

  • Systolic BP <90mmHg

  • HR>130/ min

  • RR>25/min

  • The need for O2 for SpO2 to be 92%

  • Non blanching rash

  • Cyanosis

  • No wee in 18hrs

  • Chemo in the last 6 weeks

  • <17yo with impaired immunity.
