Confinement to our homes because of the pandemic has unleashed many speculative papers, claiming to have found links between COVID-19 and perio, ortho and diabetes...! Perhaps this is an attempt for institutions to try and lead the field.
Some people have written about their accounts of types of treatment in urgent care. Online surveys have reported anxiety (surpriseeee!) from students and dentists. There is exploration into the rise of prescriptions of antibiotics and also literature on future planning and improving patient care. Many people have expressed fears, anxieties, anger and bewilderment, and many have tried to suggest solutions to these feelings.
There was an interesting article in the BDJ Collections- Letters section by Mistry and Gartshore about patients finding it difficult hearing clinicians with the mask on (A problem I've encountered SO many times). The subsequent use of the 'LiveTranscribe' app- converting sound to text on the patient's phone was found to be successful, despite dental jargon. The letter finished with the exciting news of clear masks being manufactured to support people with hearing loss (A much awaited dream of mine).
