Nucleus- Revision on Cells.

Writer's picture: NikitaJoshiNikitaJoshi

Cells have mechanisms that allow them to express genetic info selectively, following instructions relevant for that cell at that time.

A nucleus contains viscous, amorphous material enclosed by a complex nuclear envelope which forms a boundary between the nucleus and cytoplasm.

Parts of the nucleus:

-Chromosomes= Highly extended nucleoprotein fiber.

-Nuclear matrix= Protein containing fibrillar network.

-Nucleolus= 1(+) irregularly shaped electron dense amorphous structure(s) that function in rRNA synthesis and ribosomal assembly.

-Nucleoplasm= Fluid filled substance which dissolves nucleus solutes.

-Nuclear envelope= Complex 2 cellular membranes arranged parallel to each other.
